Welcome to Role-Play

Get ready to step into a world where individuality reigns supreme.

Welcome to Role-Play Hair Studio, Victoria, BC's first trans-woman-owned hair salon. Founded by Brae Carnes, an illustrious local stylist and trans rights activist, we believe in the transformative power of hair.

From the moment you walk through our doors, prepare to be understood. We believe that hair is more than just your aesthetic; hair is your calling card to the world - broadcasting who you are, who you are becoming, and who you want to be. No matter where you are on the path to self-discovery, we're here to celebrate and empower you every step of the way.

Brae Carnes Beauty

Historically hair has been a tool to box us in.

At Role-Play, we want to trash all of that.

We believe in self-expression and self-identification and that everyone has a purpose and unique role to fill. Beauty can be more than skin deep or sometimes shallow as fuck; our goal is to give you the hair that YOU want.

At Role-Play Hair Studio, we don't expect you to fit into anyone's mold. We ask you to be unapologetically yourself and play your own role in the world with fierce confidence and style. Your journey can start with us.

Our Stylists

Role-Play Hair Studio is more than just a salon to get a haircut. It's a community of like-minded individuals united by a desire for authenticity, self-expression, and fearless individuality. We're not afraid of challenging societal norms, of speaking truth to power, or of making bold statements that shake the foundations of everything we once knew.

Our stylists are industry-leading professionals. We are a chair rental studio, meaning each stylist is their own business. To get to this level, a stylist must have a loyal clientele, which means you're always booking with someone who has proven their skill and talent in the community.

Whether you have found yourself, are looking for yourself, or just want to look hot - we’ve got you covered.

All the world’s a stage - what role do you want to play?
